My name is Lori Fawbush and I'm all too familiar with the Help Wanted section of Sunday's paper. Having spent a good deal of my professional life promoting employers to The Ideal Candidate, my perspective was skewed by a healthy economy and more jobs than qualified people.
Alas, today's employment projections have forced a change in my perspective. Today's Ideal Candidate is standing in the free cheese line ... right behind me!
But as the saying goes, "When God closes a door, He opens a window." I'm a testament to that truth. In these slow times, I've explored new venues for my creative energies, and have found community service to be rich in opportunity, if not payable income. I've discovered that making a difference can provide its own sort of compensation.
So my goal is simple: to make a difference while making a living. I know, I'm being greedy. In today's market, I should be happy just having a job. And believe me, I WILL be happy to have a job. But I'm also anxious to build my own "brand" as an innovative, strategic thinker who views the Big Picture from outside the box.
If you have any suggestions, recommendations or (hopefully) leads I might follow in my career path, please contact me. Help Needed!
